A Glimpse into the Ber Months in the Philippines
Monday Sep 05, 2022
Monday Sep 05, 2022
In their latest Bisaya Podcast episode, Barok and Takya talk about the Ber Months meaning in the Philippines. For Filipinos, the Ber Months—September, October, November, and December—are a time of celebration. This is the time of year when Christmas preparations begin and the excitement for the holiday season builds. But what about the Ber Months in the Philippines makes them so unique? Let's hear the Pinoy podcast in the Bisaya language - Barok and Takya Bisaya Podcast.
A time of preparations
Barok and Takya talk that in the Philippines, the Ber Months are a time when Christmas preparations begin in earnest. Houses are cleaned from top to bottom; lights are hung, and trees are decorated. It's a time of excitement and anticipation as everyone looks forward to the holidays.
A time of family gatherings
For Barok, another particular element of the Ber Months is the planning time for family gatherings during the Christmas holidays. During this time of year, families from all various places will come together to celebrate the pre-planned Christmas parties and family reunions. This is also a time when families living apart have an opportunity to reunite and catch up with one another. The Ber Months provide a chance to plan for families to create new memories and strengthen their bonds with one another.
A time of reflection
Finally, Takya also says that the Ber Months are also a time of reflection. As we reflect on the past year and all that has happened, we can't help but feel grateful for our blessings. We may also use this time to set goals for the upcoming year. The Ber Months offer us a chance to pause and reflect on our lives and what we want to achieve in the future.
Conclusion:
The Ber Months in the Philippines are a particular time of year for Filipinos. It's a time when families come together, preparations for Christmas begin, and reflections on the past year take place. Why Not Tell the Truth? The Surprising Reasons People Lie
Sunday Aug 28, 2022
Sunday Aug 28, 2022
In today's society, it seems like lying is becoming more and more commonplace. Whether it's to avoid getting in trouble or to make ourselves look better, we often lie without even thinking about it. But why do we do this? Is there a reason that compels us to hide the truth? This Barok and Takya Bisaya Podcast episode: Why Not Tell the Truth? In the Surprising Reasons People Lie, we look closely at the surprising reasons people lie and what motivates them to do so. We also explore the effects of lying on both the individual and society as a whole.
In their Bisaya Podcast episode, the reasons given by Barok and Takya are surprising and may cause some to rethink their previous assumptions about why people lie. One reason for not telling the truth is that it can be used as a form of self-protection. This is especially true in cases where the truth could be used against someone or where it could lead to them being hurt in some way. In other cases, people may lie to avoid conflict or to make others feel better. However, lying can also have negative consequences, causing distrust and further deception. As Barok and Takya point out, sometimes the truth is more important than protecting ourselves or others from hurt feelings. When we choose to tell the truth, we show that we are capable of trust and integrity.
So if you're curious about why people lie, give this episode a listen! And if you enjoyed the episode, please consider sharing it on social media or with your friends. And don't forget to subscribe to the Barok and Takya Bisaya Podcast, the Filipino podcast in the Cebuano language, so you never miss an episode.

OFWs often feel isolated and alone, especially when they're thousands of miles away from their families.
OFWs are the unsung heroes of the Philippines. They are some of the most hardworking and resilient people in the world. They face challenges and struggles that most of us can only imagine daily. But they don't give up. They keep fighting for their families and their dreams. They leave their families and homes to work in foreign countries, often in difficult and dangerous conditions, to provide a better life for their loved ones. Yet, they are often invisible - distant family members only hear about the good times, the remittances that help to pay for school fees and put food on the table. But Filipino OFW also face many challenges, as our guest, Juna Langgam explains in this Kwentong OFW episode of Barok and Takya Bisaya Podcast. From homesickness, isolation, and missing out on important family events, OFWs sacrifice a lot for their families. They are strong, determined, and passionate people who deserve our respect and admiration. Thank you, OFWs, for everything that you do!
